Description: The Upper Crawford Trail to the summit of Little White is a very technical mountain bike ride that starts from the Kettle Valley Railway.
Details:

IMPORTANT! - Please read our disclaimer about the following information!

The suggested route is to drive up Chute Lake road all the way to the KVR and start your ride from there. You can refer to the Google Map for an approximation of where to start the ride.

The ride begins with a nice ride along the Kettle Valley Railway also know as the KVR or Trans Canada Trail. Immediately past the Bellevue trestle, to the right you will find a gravel road. From this point on, it is up hill all the way to the summit!

You will quickly see the start of the Crawford Trail, there is a sign at the trail head, see the photo in the Google map. From here you can start riding up the trail which for the first 100 to 200 meters is a hike-a-bike section but does get easier. If you prefer, you can continue up the gravel road for a few kilometers and catch the Crawford Trail at a different location.

Once on the trail you will enjoy a very challenging ride. A lot of the trail is the width of a quad and for the most part dry with lots of grip. Some sections have bolders, roots, small fist size rocks and uneven terrain. Some section have to be walked, this is a good time to stretch the legs anyways.  Technical riders will be able to climb 90% of the trail, while intermediate riders will be able to climb 75% or more.

Eventually the Crawford Trail reaches the Little White access road. Once you reach this point you will see Little White in the distance. It will seem like you are almost there but the climbing isn't over. You have about 2 KM to get to the base of the worst part of the ride which is the last section before reaching the summit. The last part of the ride is 75% hike-a-bike but is worth the effort.

Once you reach the summit take some pictures, eat, rest, and enjoy the view. When you feel rested, you will be in for a great descent.

Descending for the most part is pretty straight forward for most riders. For most riders it will take 1 1/2 to 2 hours to get back to your vehicle. That's right you will be descending for at least an hour or more!
