Google recently announced the addition of turn by turn directions for those traveling by bike. Simply enter your start and end direction and you will see recommended routes that are safe for bikes.

I tried the new option for Kelowna and I couldn't get it to display any bike routes but I am certain that it will come sooner or later.  You can view an introduction video, or visit their website for more details.
