Starting and finishing in beautiful downtown Kelowna, the 120km mass participation bike ride follows a spectacular scenic course around Lake Okanagan.

Loosely translated from Italian, gran fondo means "big ride". These rides are often a hundred kilometres or more and designed for a large number of cyclists at a variety of skill levels - everyone from the competitive cyclist to the amateur enjoy these events.

Would you mind it if a dirt bike or ATV shared the KVR trail with you while walking or cycling?  If you are concerned about the possibility of motorized vehicles using the KVR (Kettle Valley Trail) you should read this news release by Trails BC.

The second annual Tour d’Okanagan and last competitive event of the Okanagan cycling season promises to be a challenge, fun and all for a good cause.

On October 15th at the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort and Conference Centre, up to twenty teams will be facing off to see who can “own” the yellow jerseys.

Finally!  Some cool cycling events are coming to the Okanagan. 

In both cities, Gran Fondo events have been announced this year.  What the heck is a Gran Fondo anyways?  Gran Fondo loosely translated from Italian  means "long distance" or "great endurance" or "big ride".

Gran Fondo events are not sanctioned races, and anyone can register and show up for a difficult, but rewarding cycling experience.  While it isn't a race, the top finishers are usually recognized and prizes awarded to the fastest riders.
